Wow, I've just been trying to research the whole story about the dates of 607 vs 586 and voila here it is! Isn't God awesome? I still don't quite understand how it all works but I appreciate how much more simplified your version of it is Cool. Some of the documents I was finding were way over my head.
Maybe I could ask another question off topic?
If I was on my deathbed, but had no time to go out and do service door to door, what could the JW's offer me according to their "religion"? Just curious.

The only thing they have to offer you at this point (since you won't be able to do door to door work and prove your self worthy of being baptized a JW) is that at least after you are dead you will be resurrected and at that time given a second chance at becoming JW, thats it, sorry

Hi Bruce,

I just read your post about something that really shocked you today. It isn't by chance their latest brochure they put out called something like "The end of False Religion is Near" is it? I'm curious because I saw this brochure as mind blowing in it's hypocrisy.

Boy (I mean girl :P ) did you nail that one, it just blows me away, they (the JW's) want me to examine my faith and find flaws in it so I will turn to them but not only do they suggest that JW's don't, I believe that if they are caught with material that has derogatory information in it, that you would probably be disfellowshipped, I know if it was written by an apostate (ex JW) then out the door you go!!

Since you guys (gal too) are talking about Russel, they have a cover-up about his Biography.

They published it back in the "The Divine Plan of the Ages" (1925) and the December 1, 1916 Watchtower.

Later in the 1959 yearbook the Watchtower stated they never printed a Biography of Pastor Russel.

But in 1993 in the "Proclaimers of God’s Kingdom" they finally admitted the Biography of Pastor Russel. Here is the quote from the 1925 Biography. See if you can determine why they didn't want any one to read it...

Quote:
“Truly these words fittingly apply to our beloved Brother and Pastor! Charles Taze Russell, thou hast, by the Lord, been crowned a king; and through the everlasting ages thy name shall be known amongst the people, and thy enemies shall come and worship at thy feet.”

Ok, I'm still shocked over the whole charles t russel thing. I can't believe this. This in my opinion would shake my whole foundation in what I believed in if I found this info out!!!

And the way they go about it, hiding everything!
Is that quote from the 1925 biography available anywhere on line friendly sid?

and thanks nowimfree...I did read the anti nicene stuff, very interesting...I would like to get the whole book. Surprisingly it was easy to read. It just shows how far the WT has gone...b/c my boyfriend has shown my articles from the "should you believe in the trinity" and I have to say it was hard to defend my stance with those comments they posted from the founding fathers...so he has no clue what they really say.

You have a KILLER opportunity here if you don't rush into it. Study the "Should you believe in the trinity" book with him. Get yourself a set of Ante-Nicene Fathers books (its a 10 volume set, and can be spendie) and once you have them I can tell you what pages to turn to. Tell him you are curious about the statements quoted from their writings because of this and show him some of these things. There is no way around what the WT org did here. They flat out lied, not only to you and me, but him because each one of those fathers thought Christ to be just as much God as the Father. I would be willing to send you one or two volumes (you really don't need the whole set anyway) to use, but I've highlighted them and he might think something is up with that, I do have them on CD as well and you are welcome to that, but he might not like that ether due to someone could have changed it.

I have a whole document I worked up on this, if you want it let me know and I can email it to you, we would just have to make sure I send it in a format you would be able to open it.

Hi Bruce,

I think Allthingsnew is talking about "The end of false religion is near" brochure. I saw scans of it on another forum, I don't actually have my own copy.

As far as the volumes of the Ante Nicene Fathers writings, do you have to buy them or can you get them from the library? I looked at someone elses and I thought they got them from the library but maybe they owned them.

Actually when I wrote that I meant to say the December 1, 1916 WT but I don't think it matters. I'm sure I can find it because I seen the scan.

I will get back soon.
