A Students' Guide to Jehovah's Witnesses

A Students' Guide to Jehovah's Witnesses

by Vanda Goins

No doubt at some point and time you or someone you know has come in contact with Jehovah's Witnesses (JW's). They are widely known for their publications of the Watchtower and Awake magazines that they so frequently deliver to your door for a small donation, or they will happily offer you a free home Bible Study (as long as you study from their publications with their New World Translations of the Holy Scriptures). The purpose of this webpage is to inform the reader of the hidden dangers that lay beneath this organization. I hope to touch on a few main points of interest, and guide you to areas of helps and questions for yourself or for someone you know.

Jehovah's Witnesses headquarters The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is located in Brooklyn, New York. And for over 100 years has been in operation, it's founder being Charles Taze Russell. What you might not know is that Russell had no theological training and his ideas of the Bible were outrageous.

Sometimes in our lives when things go wrong and we just don't know where to go we feel like a ship tossed about on the ocean and low and behold the Jehovah's Witnesses show up at your door with what you think to be all the right answers. And they can be so convincing that you begin to believe in their teachings. Let's take a look into what they teach.

Did You Know Jehovah's Witnesses Teach...

  • That Jesus Christ is Michael the Archangel

  • That the organization Jehovah's Witnesses (also known as The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society) believe and teach their members that this organization is the ONLY hope of Salvation today, not Jesus Christ

  • That all other religions except theirs are of Satan and that Pastors and church members are under the control of the Devil

  • That the cross is a pagan symbol of sex worship. And that to wear a cross as jewelry is a form of idolatry

  • That Jesus Christ did not die on a cross

  • That the Jehovah's Witnesses organization is the "Only True" visible organization that God himself directly speaks to today

"Beware of sheep in wolves' clothing"Wolf Take a peek at a few of the things that Jehovah's Witnesses don't tell you...

False Prophecies foretold by JW's
1975 marked the end of the world Watchtower magazine, 8/15/1968, pg.499
1925 marked the return of the long since dead old testament prophets Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Book Millions Now Living Will Never Die, 1920, pp.89, 90, 97
1918 was predicted to be the year that God would destroy all other churches The Finished Mystery [Studies in the Scriptures, vol. VII], 1917 [1917 edition], p. 485
1914 marked another prophecy of the end of the world as told to only JW's The Time is at Hand [Studies in the Scriptures, vol. II], Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, 1889 [1908 edition], pp.98, 99

Where Do I Go From Here?

By now you probably have lots of questions about this organization and whether it should be trusted. I don't blame you. Your questions need to be answered. Only know this; that members of Jehovah's Witnesses are looked upon as evil (apostates) and can be excommunicated from the organization if they begin to ask questions about the organization's roots especially when such questions as these come to mind...
  • Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult?
  • Why do Jehovah's Witnesses deny the Trinity Doctrine: The Father, Son, Holy Ghost as God?
  • Why are Jehovah's Witnesses not allowed to take blood transfusions?
  • Why do Jehovah's Witnesses use a different Bible that devalues the Deity of Christ Jesus as God?
  • Why do Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,00 of their members ("anointed class") are the ones going to heaven?

If you or someone you know would like to know more about Jehovah's Witnesses, then read or listen to testimonies of former Jehovah's Witnesses.
